Overall Function: The Early Head Start Child Care Partnership (“EHS-CCP”) Family Engagement Specialist (“FES”) is a member of the interdisciplinary EHS-CCP team whose primary role is to enhance family well-being, promote positive parent-child relationships, support family members, and to promote family member’s advocacy and leadership skills. The FES is responsible for providing screening & on-going assessment, parent/family support and case management in collaboration with EHS-CCP staff, parents and other community agencies. (part time, specify Korean families?)
Accountable to: Early Head Start Child Care Partnership, Clinical Supervisor
Essential Job Duties:
1. Provide a minimum of once monthly in-home or phone counseling sessions , inclusive of providing developmental guidance, parent education, support and case management services (caseload size)
2. Conduct initial intake interviews with families and complete required enrollment documentation.
3. Translate program related documents into Korean as needed for the benefit of children and families.
4. Facilitate and coordinate agency or program specific initiatives such as implementation of parenting curriculum or other early education/child development frameworks.
5. Conduct screenings and conduct/review on-going assessments of children
6. Establish Family Partnership Plans, including development of individual goals and objectives,
7. Support child and family needs as they relate to developmental delays and special needs and coordinate with Regional Center and/or LAUSD, as appropriate.
8. Monitor infant and child health and development in coordination with other EHS-CC staff
9. Case coordination and collaboration with other EHS-CCP staff and other community providers
10. Maintain up to date documentation of all progress notes, plans, and activities in the client file
11. Provide transition services to families in coordination with other members of EHS inter-disciplinary team
12. Collaborate with EHS-CCP staff to coordinate parent education classes, support groups, and larger family events.
13. Perform intake and enrollment responsibilities as needed
14. Perform all Early Head Start job duties in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and adhere to program policies and procedures
15. Participate in annual community assessment
16. Assist with the organization of EHS-CCP celebrations and special family events
17. Perform other related job duties as may be assigned by direct supervisor
