Hi, this is KICPC
What comes to your mind when you think of Greece?!
Architecture? Food? History?
Or...ancient philosophers...? ancient myth...?!
There are various things that you can come up with!
For me, a beautiful landscape of Santorini with sunlight surrounding me warmly, thanks to the perfect weather of the Mediterranean! The picture below is the exact realization of what’s in my head !
So today I prepare a post for people who have stayed in this beautiful country in the Mediterranean, with envy,
which is the way to get Greece Apostille.
. . .
If you have stayed in a foreign country including Greece, you may have an experience to send the document to your home country or some other country.
For example, a student once stayed Greece for university for 4 years
and want to get a job in Korea. To prove his academic background, he has to submit the graduate certificate in Greece to Korea.
As you may feel from the above example, situations sending document from Greece to another or a country to another, occur frequently.
But to use the document outside of the country, you ought to process some steps and the exact steps are follows !
1) Translate the document in the language of recipient country
2) Notarize the translation
(to prove that the translation is right and trustful)
3) Get certification on the authenticity of the document
Since it is a matter between two countries using different languages, you may nod in agreement regarding to 1) and 2), translating and notarizing and also 3).
However, there are some more things you need to check on 3)
(1) Do both countries join Hague Convention ?
Depending on the answer to this, the type of certification you need to get differs!
If both countries join the Convention, the type of authentication is apostille. Otherwise, you should get embassy attestation.
(2) What is the difference between apostille and embassy attestation?
To be simple, apostille is easier and faster than embassy attestation.
Since apostille is only available between the members of Hague Convention, you can only get the certification from the authority of one country. On the other hand, to get embassy attestation you should get certifications from embassy of each country.
There are some cautions when getting embassy attestation. But those cautions differ from a country to another and moreover today’s post is on apostille. So let’s handle this later on!
Instead let’s check some important point on apostille
Like I said above, when you apostille, you can get the certification from only one authority, which contributes to its simplicity. But you cannot randomly choose ‘one authority’ here.
This is given to you.
‘One authority’ is the authority from the country which originally creates your document.
Thus when using Greece document abroad, you should get apostille from GREECE unless there is no way to validate the document.
Though apostille is easier than embassy attestation, itself is hard
for one person to handle. And the case like handing in Greece document
to somewhere else when you already left Greece,
things get a lot complicated!
Don’t suffer alone!
