There are lots of students heading to Germany due to free tuition fee! However, as you may guess as a foreigner you have to check whether you need a VISA to study there. If you do and can’t catch what you prepare, then follow me! I will tell you in detail!

So as other countries, to achieve VISA for legal stay in Germany there are lots of things to do and documents you need to prepare.Checklist below is the essential documents you need to prepare when applying ! 

1. Two duly completed national visa application forms
2. Valid passport and two photocopies of your passport
3. Birth certificate
4. Marriage Certificate
5. Recent passport-style photographs
6. Photocopies of previous German residence titles
7. Previous Schengen visa / German resident permit

☞ For ‘birth certificate’ and ‘marriage certificate’, you need to take one step more, certifications that confirm the authenticity but it can only be done in the country from which the documents are issued! 

Just as the evil reputation on complexity of visa, this is not the end. You need to check some more things like below.  
1. Proof of admission into a study program
2. Authenticated certificates of earlier education / Degree certificate 
3. Curriculum vitae
4. Finanzieruungsnachweis, Means of subsistence
5. Covered Health Insurance 
6. Proof of haviing paid the visa application fee
7. Proof of German / English proficiency 

☞ For ‘authenticated certificates of earlier education’, it should go thru the certification step too!

☞ There can be some more documents required following the categories

 Regarding to certification, there are two types, apostille and embassy certification. Apostille is a simplified version between members of Hague convention while embassy certification means complicated processes when either one party doesn’t belong to the convention No matter what type you should get certified your document before leave! 

However this certification step is renowned for eating up one’s time and vitality. Moreover if you are already in Germany there is no more you can do!
