Hello, it’s KICPC.
I bought useful information for exchange students.
It’s about tourist attractions and apostille! ༼⍢༽
Travel is the beauty of exchange students.
So, I’ll tell you about some tourist attractions in the UK.
1. Big Ben
The left picture was taken by me
when this painting was on display in Korea.
Have you ever seen this painting?
It’s Andre Derain’s Big Ben.
Shouldn't we go to the place where this famous painting is painted?
2. British Museum
The British Museum is the largest national public museum in England.
There are approximately 8 million artifacts and collections related to history, art, and culture from the beginning to the present.
3. London Eye
London Eye is located on the south coast of the Thames River in London, England.
It is the largest Ferris wheel in Europe.
More than three million tourists visit every year,
making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK.
4. Westminster palace
The cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church
in Westminster, London, England.
It is designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The tombs of kings and queens are enshrined there,
and major national events are held.
I hope you go there and make a lot of good memories. :)
Back to the main point,
When you graduate, you’ll get a diploma.
(There will also be documents that may be necessary after returning home.
For example, Transcript, Police Certificate, etc.)
But a diploma issued in the UK is only valid in the UK.
In order to be valid your diploma in your home country,
you have to get an apostille on your diploma.
"Apostille” is a form of authentication issued to documents for use in countries that participate in the Hague Convention of 1961. In general, after the 'Ministry of Foreign Affairs' and 'Embassy Certification', the reliability of the national document is verified, but there is an inconvenience in terms of time and cost. To resolve this inconvenience, without consular legalization through overseas consulates among the member countries, Apostille has appeared, which recognizes documents
with Apostille as legalized documents.
(from : http://global.allminwon.com/html/sub02_02.html)
In short, the document is only valid in the country where you issued the document,
and to validate your document in a foreign country, you have to get an apostille on your documents.
But solving these difficult procedures in a foreign country is not easy.
If you decided to do it by yourself,
you should go through these all procedures.
However, what if you returned to your home country without apostille?
Should you go back to the UK?
Or, what if you feel the issuance process is so difficult due to the language barrier?
Are you just going to give up?
No, you don’t have to do that.
