Hello, it’s KICPC.
As global competency is important, many people plan to go to graduate school.
But there are some documents required to go to graduate school abroad.
Typically, there is a Certificate of Graduation.
From now on, I’ll let you know about the order of submitting your Certificate of Graduation to a foreign country’s graduate school.
You have to go through these all procedures.
First, Notarization.
You should get a Notarization on your document.
Second, Apostille.
You should get an apostille at the responsible institution.
Issuing agencies are different from country to country.
You need to search for it before you go to get it.
Perhaps, there are some people who don’t know about an apostille.
"Apostille” is a form of authentication issued to documents for use in countries that participate in the Hague Convention of 1961. In general, after the 'Ministry of Foreign Affairs' and 'Embassy Certification', the reliability of the national document is verified, but there is an inconvenience in terms of time and cost. To resolve this inconvenience, without consular legalization through overseas consulates among the member countries, Apostille has appeared, which recognizes documents
with Apostille as legalized documents.

In short, the document is only valid in the country where you issued the document,
and to validate your document in a foreign country, you have to get an apostille on your documents.
Third, Translation.
Your documents must be translated into the language of the country where the documents will be submitted.
Fourth, Notarization of translation.
It must be processed by a notary lawyer.
Lastly, you have to get the embassy certification.
Phew… It’s so cumbersome.
But there is a difficult step that makes you worry.
It’s an Apostille.
Apostille is only available in the country that the document issued.
For example, if you graduate in Korea, you can get an apostille only in Korea. Because your Certificate of Graduation is issued in Korea.
What if you have left Korea without Apostille?
Should you go back to Korea and get an apostille on it?
It’s a complete waste of your time and costs.
