Do you know who the two people you see in the picture are?
On the left is the president of Kenya and on the right is the prime minister of UK.
Today, we’re going to talk about these two countries.
First, let’s see the relationship between the two countries.
Kenya and the UK have good working relations in international fora as exemplified
by the latter’s support of UN Resolution 2036 in New York, giving the African
Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) extra troops, including the support for
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to join AMISOM.
The two countries also enjoy extensive bilateral relations in areas covering trade,
investments, tourism, and cooperation in areas of defence and security, anti-piracy,
counter-terrorism, climate change, among others.
The Embassy of Kenya in the UK exists as a High Commission.
Q. What is difference between embassy and high commission?
A. Embassies are diplomatic missions sent to non-Commonwealth countries,
while High Commissions are diplomatic missions sent to Commonwealth countries.
The Kenya High Commission in London was established in 1963 to pursue Kenya's
national interest in the United Kingdom.
The diplomatic mission in London is also
accredited to the International Maritime Organization, and the Commonwealth of Nations.
Kenya and the UK enjoy cordial relations, and the mission's mandate is to forge
closer relations between the people of Kenya and the people of United Kingdom in
pursuit of deeper bilateral and multilateral cooperation in trade and investments,
culture, science and technology as well as other fields for mutual benefit.
You're currently living in England.
What if you have to get a Kenyan visa or a passport reissued?
Or if you lost your Kenyan ID card and have to be reissued?
The certificate to be submitted must eventually be certified by the Kenya High
Commission.
Step1. You need to issue the necessary documents in UK.
The required documents will depend on what you should be issued.
Step2. Translate the issued documents into Kenyan.
The issued documents should be translated into the language of the country of
submission. But Kenya, like England, uses English, so it may not need translation.
Step3. Your translated documents have to be notarized by a lawyer.
If you translated the documents into Kenyan, you would have to get a translation
notarization.
You need to be certified that the original and the translation are match.
Step4. Your documents must be confirmed by the Foreign Ministry in UK.
The notarized documents must be certified by the Foreign Ministry.
You have to go through this step to get an embassy certification.
Step5. The documents confirmed by the Foreign Ministry can be certified by the Kenya High Commission in UK.
The High Commission-certified documents become valid public documents in Kenya.
Don't worry if this process is too complex.
