Hi, it’s KICPC!
Following the last post, this post will tell you about the relationship between UK and Sri Lanka.
Bilateral ties with the UK takes center stage in the country’s post colonial foreign
policy making London one of the most important Missions abroad for Sri Lanka.
In addition to its bilateral work, the Mission also handles the work related to the
Commonwealth Organization.
UK is the second largest tourism market for Sri Lanka accounting for 20% of the
country’s tourist arrivals and 30% of tourism related earnings.
A recent commercial
development has been the large increase in tourists from Britain, with it presently
being the largest single source of tourists visiting Sri Lanka from the EU.
You are living in the UK now.
If you have to 1. apply for a Sri Lanka passport in the UK,
2. report someone’s birth or death to Sri Lanka,
3. register your marriage to Sri Lanka,
4. or apply for a visa to Sri Lanka,
You have to make the UK-issued documents valid in Sri Lanka.
Step1. You need to issue the necessary documents in UK.
The required documents will depend on what you should be issued.
Step2. Translate the issued documents into Sri Lankan language.
The issued documents should be translated into the language of the country of
submission.
Step3. Your translated documents have to be notarized by a lawyer.
If you translated the documents into Sri Lankan language, you would have to get a
translation notarization.
You need to be certified that the original and the translation are match.
Step4. Your documents must be confirmed by the Foreign Ministry in UK.
The notarized documents must be certified by the Foreign Ministry.
You have to go through this step to get an embassy certification.
Step5. The documents confirmed by the Foreign Ministry can be certified by the Sri Lanka High Commission in UK.
The High Commission-certified documents become valid public documents in Sri Lanka.
